Connecticut Food Crawl Part 3 – Abbott’s Lobster
Inspired by the renowned Mark Weins, our quest led us to Noank, where Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough has been a local institution since 1947. Abbott’s is a beacon for lobster enthusiasts with a sprawling seating area, a bustling parking lot and a history celebrated in newspaper clippings. This seasoned establishment boasts a veteran service team, ensuring a swift and efficient dining experience.
Their renowned lobster rolls, available in a three-tiered delight, were central to our Abbott’s adventure. The “Our Famous Hot Lobster Roll” kicks off the experience with a generous ¼ pound of lobster on a toasted hamburger roll. Moving up the scale, the “OMG Hot Lobster Roll” nearly doubles in size, served on a toasted New England hot dog bun. For the bold and hungry, the “LOL Hot Lobster Roll” offers a full pound of lobster on a freshly baked bun – a true feast for the senses.
Choosing the “Famous Hot Lobster Roll,” we savored the tender lobster on a lightly toasted hamburger roll, complemented by the side of pickle and drawn butter. The experience was delightful, though we couldn’t resist imagining the grandeur of sharing the colossal “LOL Hot Lobster Roll” among friends.
Abbott’s diverse menu extends beyond lobster, featuring steamed lobster platters, lobster bisque and more. The unique steaming method, employed for over 60 years, imparts a tenderness to the lobster meat that is hard to surpass. From homemade potato chips to briny oysters on the half shell, Abbott’s offerings are a symphony of flavors, creating the perfect harmony with their lobster-focused dishes.
