When we celebrated quietly, mainly giving gifts to our kids, there was a lot of pressure to buy things. I thought about how society expects us to buy a lot, especially during the holidays. I made a deliberate effort not to follow what the media shows as A Truly Joyful Christmas, with significant gifts, fancy houses, neat lawns and full pantries.

I realized the true essence of A Truly Joyful Christmas didn’t require fitting into a predetermined image; it was about genuine warmth and connection, free from unnecessary materialism.

Despite societal expectations, our celebration embraced imperfections. The house, though small, felt just right, adorned with the authenticity of the season. The goodies, food, snacks, and sweets were more than good enough, creating an atmosphere of genuine happiness and contentment.
